Excerpts from a speech Trump gave in October 2016, just THREE WEEKS before the general election:

There is nothing the political establishment will not do, no lie that they won't tell to hold their prestige and power at your expense. Compare this to the rambling, meandering, jokey "speeches" he is giving now and notice the difference in rhetoric.
When I post on X about how Trump has fundamentally altered his positions on key issues like immigration, his supporters cope with this inconvenient fact by telling themselves that this is simply how a Republican must behave to win a general election. NOT THE CASE!
